NiTi50 (also called as Nitinol) and NiTiCu alloys typically are shape memory alloys which has the ability to undergo deformation at the specified temperature, then recover its original shape. And It also exhibits super elasticity which can immediately return to its under-formed shape upon removal of the external load. It makes Nitinol a fascinating material for surgical applications. It provides a possibility to make self-locking, self-expanding and self-compressing implants. For NiTiCu alloys, the coppers are added in NiTi-based shape memory alloys for improvement on thermo-mechanical properties.
