Smoothneer-6 (“S-6” for short) is designed for accurate, reproducible preparation results in metallographic inspection. The Smoothneer-6 features a robust and durable frame dual-column design with an integrated specimen moving head and automatic process control, plus a thoughtful and user-friendly operation mode, which makes the Smoothneer-6 robust and reproducible for specimen grinding and polishing .
Frame double-column structure, strong & durable, longer life
The fuselage adopts a frame-type double-column structure directly connected to the base to ensure the natural extension of the rigidity of the sample holder and the firmness of the entire device.
A high-performance guide system ensures smooth movement of the gripper. As a result, noise is minimized when perfectly flat specimens are prepared.
The shell is designed with thick lines and thickened high-quality engineering plastics, which are strong but not cold. Rigid and soft, with a strong sense of modernity
The base is made of AlSiMg alloy thickened all-aluminum lower turntable, and the body is strong, rust-free and corrosion-resistant.
The robust specimen moving head with its dual-column construction and large cast aluminium base not only effectively eliminates vibrations but also ensures the best possible preparation results.
Considerate detail design, make sample preparation more easy
The semicircular design and starting point of the holder allow for easy sample insertion and removal. The holder can be easily installed and removed for more thorough cleaning. The gripper can move horizontally in the X direction by pressing the button, adapt to different sizes of work plates, and maximize the use of grinding and polishing consumables. And the direction of rotation of the gripper can be adjusted as required to achieve the best preparation results.
Precise start-stop control ensures optimal preparation results and prevents potential specimen damage. The specially developed upper and lower turntable flexible start-stop technology, as well as flexible pressure loading technology, are carefully protecting your samples from impact.
The built-in grinding rate sensor measures the amount of grinding in the range of 50~5,000μm, minimizing grinding time and ensuring sufficient material removal.

Center loading can prepare samples of different sizes, and the two methods are integrated, which means that more samples of different sizes can be prepared on the same machine, eliminating the trouble of switching back and forth between various equipment.
Save sample preparation costs
In the Smoothneer-6 system, in addition to the parameters that come with the system, you can also set the amount of grinding liquid required in the grinding process by yourself. Automatic dosing adjusts the amount of suspension/lubricant applied to improve reproducibility and control perceived waste of consumables.
When starting a new package, simply calibrate the pump and the Smoothneer-6 will do the exact same dosing every time. The same preparation results can be obtained by various material preparation methods.
Smoothneer-6 has an automatic cleaning function for each dosing pump. The liquid in the pump tube will return to the bottle, and by using tap water to clean a section of the pipeline from the back of the dosing pump to the nozzle, it will refuse to block the tube and ensure that the tube is clean and unobstructed.
